Sciensano is commited to safeguarding personal data and adheres to the European Regulation 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (GDPR).
Personal data refers to any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
Who is responsible for personal data?
Sciensano is the controller of all personal data it processes about website visitors. Sciensano is a public institution with legal personality established by the law of 25 February establishing Sciensano and is registered at the Belgian Crossroads Bank for Enterprises with enterprise number 0693.876.830, having its registered office at Rue Juliette Wytsman 14, 1050 Ixelles (Belgium). What personal data do we process for which purpose?
Sciensano will solely collect and process personal data in line with determined purposes.
Communication: when you contact us by (e)mail or telephone, we collect and process your contact information and potential other data you transfer to us while contacting us, to achieve the purpose of the communication.
Newsletter subscription: when you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect and process your email address to send you newsletters.
Website browsing: to ensure that the content on our website is presented in the most effective manner for you and your computer, certain user and device data may be collected. This information may not reveal your identity and therefore may not be personal data. Examples of this type of user and device data are: internet browser and electronic device information, information collected through cookies, pixel tags and other technologies, demographic information, and aggregated data (i.e., data grouped together so that it is not possible to link the data to a particular individual). We and our third-party service providers may collect user and device data in a variety of ways when you use our website, including through your internet browser or electronic device.
Storage of personal data
Personal data will be stored only for as long as reasonably necessary, for example as long as you are subscribed to the newsletter, or as required by law.
Your rights
You have the right to request Sciensano to access, correct, delete and transfer (provide a copy) your personal data, or limit its use. You also have the right to withdraw your consent for subscription to the newsletter at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of processing before its withdrawal).
